800 km in 3 months with my TVS Qube S electric scooter: Considerations | Tech Reddy

With my riding pattern, I get a range close to 100 km.

BHPian callvvijay recently shared this with others who are interested.

After booking the iQube S variant on May 20th (launched on May 19th), I got the vehicle shipped on August 26th – so, today marks the completion of 3 months.

I was initially told that I would receive delivery in the month of July. But, there was no word from the dealer or TVS. After the mail went up, I was able to send it.

Now, about the scooter – I have driven more than 800 km on the scooter in the last 3 months and it has been a real pleasure to ride it. Very nice and fun to drive. My driving is mostly within the area where I live and I ride outside – like, I took the scooter to the office (which is about 10 km from my place) a few times.

While I drive in a mix of Eco and Power modes, my wife and dad only drive it in Eco mode. With this type of pattern (80% in Eco and 20% in Power), I get a range close to 100 km.

Disadvantages:

  1. Heavy – the scooter is very heavy. There is no way you can lift the scooter when it is parked in a tight space. Thankfully, recovery mode helps here.
  2. Tall – The back seat is tight (not so much). But for people under (say,) 5’5″, it’s a challenge to ride a scooter.
  3. There is no provision for installing a handle/grip for the ladies who usually sit on the back-right.
  4. There is no way (or at least that’s what I was told) to fit a small basket into the footboard area. I have a TVS-Scooty with a small carrier where my wife used to put her cell phone and wallet while riding. In the iQube though, we’ll have to open up the underseat storage for everything.
  5. Sometimes the DTE does not show an accurate reading. After plugging in without charge, it will show 105 km. But, even after riding 10 km, it will still be at 105 km. This is not a common pattern though.

A simple note: My family has become the unofficial brand ambassador of TVS iQube. We are often stopped by people on the road who are interested in learning more about the scooter. A few days ago, when I was riding, a gentleman on a scooty asked us to stop and we chatted on the side of the road for 15 minutes about the scooter.

Cheers!
