Cybermedia Research (CMR) estimates that 5G tablet shipments in India will grow by 61% in Q3 2022 (quarter-on-quarter). As the festival season approaches, shipments of 5G-enabled tablets are increasing. Additionally, tablet shipments are expected to grow between 10-15% this year.
“5G tablet shipments increased in Q3 2022, driven by recent 5G auctions and the start of the 5G era. The growth of 5G tablets is in line with the trends seen in the 5G smartphone market,” explained Menka Kumari, CMR analyst and industry intelligence group (IIG) . Kumari further said that tablet shipments will witness significant growth in the next festive quarter – mainly due to consumer and enterprise demand for hybrid work.

“We expect strong growth in tablet shipments driven by attractive and aggressive offers and discounts. As we move forward, we will see 5G-enabled tablets underlining the growth of the tablet market, particularly in the education, healthcare, hospitality and manufacturing segments,” he said.

With a market share of 28% and QoQ growth of 83% this quarter, Samsung took the lead in the tablet market. Lenovo came in second with a market share of 26% and QoQ growth of 21%.
Apple took third place (19% market share, 26% growth in Q3). The survey showed that the wi-fi tablet market expanded by 41% QoQ, while the 4G tablet market grew by only 9%. Sales of high-end tablets priced above Rs 20,000 grew by 44% in Q3 2022. According to the study, tablets with an 8-inch display accounted for 43% of the total shipments in the Indian market.
