The All Progressive Congress Campaign Council has criticized Arise Television for inviting its flag-bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to the presidential town hall meeting without consultation.
The Director of Media and Publication, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja, warned the television station to stop using Tinubu’s name or image in the announcement of the town hall meeting scheduled for December 4.
The former Lagos State has been repeatedly criticized for neglecting pre-election rallies.
Onanuga, who described the announcement by Arise Television as ineffective and irresponsible, said the busy schedule of the APC candidate would not allow him to honor all the invitations.
The report reads: “Our attention has been drawn to an Arise News announcement regarding a Town Hall meeting scheduled for December 4th.
“We are shocked that the television station listed our candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as a participant, when there was no prior consultation with his aides and no consent of the candidate was obtained for this announcement.
“We consider this inappropriate and irresponsible. No media organization should give itself the right to teach any candidate to fit their agenda.

“As we said in an earlier statement, Asiwaju Tinubu’s hectic and hectic campaign schedule will not allow him to honor all the invitations from various radio and TV stations for discussion and or Town Hall meetings hence we have decided not to start with one media outlet. organization and later others ignore them.
“Due to the lack of a united and acceptable party from all parties and all candidates on the platform, our candidate has been speaking directly to Nigerians, since President Muhammadu Buhari launched Tinubu’s Action Plan for a Better Nigeria.
“So far, more than seven town hall meetings and planned sections have been held in the general political zone, where the candidate and his running mate have talked about their programs.
“This direct engagement will take place before the election on 25 February 2023. Therefore, we urge Arise News to stop using our candidate’s name or image in its advertisement immediately.
